Bear Buddies

Assistance League of San Fernando Valley's Bear Buddies are given to children traumatized by accidents, abuse or medical procedures. These soft and cuddly teddy bears are distributed in cooperation with Northridge Hospital Medical Center, local fire departments, law enforcement and other agencies.

Care Club Scholarship

Provides funds for Alzheimer and dementia participants to attend ONEgeneration's Adult Day Care program.

Kids Kits

Assistance League of San Fernando Valley volunteers prepare these kits with safe items to distract and quietly entertain young people who are awaiting treatment at Northridge Hospital Urgent Care.

One-on-One

Assistance League of San Fernando Valley has members who tutor at least one hour each week with individual children having difficulties with their school work. The volunteers' greatest reward for their efforts is the marked improvement the students academic skills and literacy.

"Education has long been a hot button of mine, and tutoring young students is one way of being involved. This is my sixth year of participation with third graders at Tarzana Elementary School... From my perspective, it is very rewarding to see them improve, and I would like to others join the effort."

Operation School Bell®

Assistance League of San Fernando Valley's largest philanthropic program is Operation School Bell, a free service for children in need attending elementary schools the Los Angeles Unified School Districts One and Two.

Assistance League of San Fernando Valley works closely with principals, teachers and school nurses who identify children who would benefit from the Operation School Bell program. New jackets, shoes and socks, underwear and hygiene items, as well as backpacks filled with school supplies are distributed throughout the school year.
English/Spanish dictionaries are given to students as they graduate from elementary school.

Public support and special event revenue allow Assistance League of San Fernando Valley to offer Operation School Bell to all eligible elementary school children in the Los Angeles Unified School Districts One and Two.

Rape Victim and Children of Abuse Assistance Kits

Assistance League of San Fernando Valley prepares kits that include basic clothing, personal items and a caring note from the chapter. The kits fill a need as patients examined at special treatment facilities often require garments to wear home.

S.M.I.L.E.

Assistance League of San Fernando Valley's Senior Multi Interest Leisure Enrichment (S.M.I.L.E.) program provides year round companionship, professional entertainment, refreshments and holiday gifts for the residents of a San Fernando Valley non-profit retirement facility.
